At least I'm at home…(cont.) What's the longest you've gone without sleep? (poll) - GeneL - 07-19-2010 Continuing my previous thread http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1,971517 re I was in the hospital, I haven't been able to go to sleep since Thursday night, which makes three days so far. I have dozed off a few times, but right now I'm still awake and hoping that I will finally be able to sleep sometime soon. This has become a chronic problem for me. I get on the computer and later on watch some tv shows that I've recorded. Before know it, it's morning. In fact, I'm going to bed to watch TV right after I post this. As far as the issues that put me in the hospital, I haven't been having any obvious symptoms, other than some congestion, for the last day or so. No chest pains and my breathing is getting better as well. I do plan to follow up with an upper GI/endoscopy and possibly a nuclear stress test. The biggest issue for me right now, is my breathing, so I think I'll be having a pulmonary test as well. Thanks for all your replies and suggestions on my previous topic. In response to ALLGOLD AND Black's comments, I do have access to the OCTA Access system, which provides rides for $2.50 The problem with this "transportation solution" is that you have to make a reservation a day ahead, so it's useless if you need a ride right away. Re: At least I'm at home…(cont.) What's the longest you've gone without sleep? (poll) - cbelt3 - 07-19-2010 Best of luck to you.Yes, sleep is important. Have you tried different positions, sleeping in a recliner, that sort of thing ? Oftentimes congestive issues give you a 'drowning' feeling when you're lying flat, so reclining at an angle in a recliner or with a bunch of pillows can help. Re: At least I'm at home…(cont.) What's the longest you've gone without sleep? (poll) - mrlynn - 07-19-2010 Don't watch TV or use the computer. Try really boring books. Bureaucratic manuals, or 19th-century treatises on economics should do the trick. /Mr Lynn Re: At least I'm at home…(cont.) What's the longest you've gone without sleep? Recently spent three frightening days in the hospital after routine colonoscopy resulted in perforated colon. Best health care is to take good care of yourself, eat well, exercise and lose weight. If you can avoid the snake oil salesmen that call themselves Doctors you are likely to live longer. Re: At least I'm at home…(cont.) What's the longest you've gone without sleep? Would you like to compare the number of lives lost to accidental perforations with the number of lives saved by the removal of pre-cancerous polyps? /Mr Lynn Re: At least I'm at home…(cont.) What's the longest you've gone without sleep? (poll) - freeradical - 07-19-2010 I have never been able to get at least some sleep when I want to. I will occasionally wake up in the middle of the night, and have difficulty getting back to sleep, but this is quite rare. I have intentionally stayed up all night long when I was young, but I haven't done this in over 20 years. Re: At least I'm at home…(cont.) What's the longest you've gone without sleep? (poll) - Acer - 07-19-2010 Bedroom should be for sleeping only (or related activities, nudge nudge wink wink). You want to condition your body so that when you are in this room, you sleep. Especially no TV or other stronger stimuli. Re: At least I'm at home…(cont.) What's the longest you've gone without sleep? But congratulations, you found a magic reason to shoot it down completely. If you need an unexpected ride for a medical emergency 'right away' why would you not call an ambulance? On the off chance that you might be willing to listen to what anyone has to say: watching TV or doing something on the computer to is like shining a light in your eyes-- it's not the right thing to help you fall asleep. Re: At least I'm at home…(cont.) What's the longest you've gone without sleep? (poll) - Grateful11 - 07-19-2010 Actually that's 2 questions in one. The longest I've ever been was the time my first son was born. Woke at 6am went to work, back home at 4pm, grilled hamburgers, 11pm wife went into labor, went to hospital, son born at 10am next morning, stayed with them all day, went and bought her flowers, got at midnight and crashed. I believe that's 42 hrs straight with absolutely no sleep. Other question, haven't slept good in over 5 years because of my back. I'm usually in bed around midnight to 1am and by 5-6am I'm in too much pain to stay in the bed and I get in my oversize LazyBoy recliner, with Meds, that reclines almost complete flat out and I try to get 2-3 hours sleep in it. I would never ever wish back pain on anyone, if you've never had back problems thank your lucky stars or however. Re: At least I'm at home…(cont.) What's the longest you've gone without sleep? (poll) - mikebw - 07-19-2010 No trouble getting to sleep when I need to. I used to regularly stay up for 30+ hours as a result of my work schedule but I haven't done that in a couple years now. |
