Will this USB modem work on a G3 iMac? - Dennis S - 07-19-2010

Here is the link and partial descripton from ebay. I need one for use on a G3 iMac which doesn't "find" a modem (although it's there on the pull-down menu) and/or a PC with XP that had its modem fried by lightning.

The description mentions "Networking" and I don't know if that rules out just plugging it in straight to the phone line. It doesn't mention Mac under what it supports.

Is the iMac's built-in modem also fried?

I don't think so. It was working and it sat up for a few months and then, when I hooked it back up, the modem doesn't work.

Without knowing explicitly that there are Mac drivers for it I wouldn't touch it unless it was free...

I may just buy a sub-$10 PCI modem off ebay for the PC to get me back online. Do they all pretty much fit a Compac SR1103WM running XP? Are there any specific specs to be aware of? I don't care about the speed other than it being 56k.

Edit:

I just ran across this one that's the same brand as what's in it:

I'll come to the library Tuesday and buy it if I don't hear anyone object.
