*gasp*... damn asthma... damn hyper-expensive asthma meds ! - cbelt3 - 10-07-2010 :villagers: Damn Astra Zenica.... their 'Advair' product works for me, but it's so damn expensive I can't stand it. So I'm using it .. less than I should so it lasts longer. And of course, with allergy season here, I'm having more trouble breathing. And the company offers 'help' with me paying for their insanely expensive meds... a $10 off coupon. Woo hoo. $150 a month drug. Bastiches. Re: *gasp*... damn asthma... damn hyper-expensive asthma meds ! - anonymouse1 - 10-07-2010 If you're low in Vitamin D, that can aggrevate asthma. Re: *gasp*... damn asthma... damn hyper-expensive asthma meds ! - mattkime - 10-07-2010 have you tried cheaper alternatives? Re: *gasp*... damn asthma... damn hyper-expensive asthma meds ! - mrbigstuff - 10-07-2010 cbelt, assuming you have not already done so, google the buteyko method of breathing. there are some good videos on YT, also, that demonstrate this technique. another home remedy: boil water, pour in basin, drop in some oil of eucalyptus, put towel over head, enjoy aroma. Re: *gasp*... damn asthma... damn hyper-expensive asthma meds ! - Pam - 10-07-2010 Get vitamin D levels up and try this stuff http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=DB-1002. I only take one a day so it took awhile to see any allergy/asthma effects. Like 3-4 weeks. I wonder if taking the 3 a day as on the label would have sped it up. I'm at a point now where I feel I can do with advair 1x day instead of 2x. Re: *gasp*... damn asthma... damn hyper-expensive asthma meds ! - Speedy - 10-08-2010 Hopefully you have insurance. If not, in four years you will so hang in there. We have insurance to help cover some $25k in prescriptions but only pay $3k of that a year. We pay a lot for the insurance after the old insurance company cancelled their policy once we put in a few claims and they saw what was coming. I hope we never go back to that kind of insurance system again. I just ordered a 90 day refill and my copay was $124, not too bad all things considered. Proventil is $50/90 inhalations. Its cheaper, but i don't know if its what you need. Re: *gasp*... damn asthma... damn hyper-expensive asthma meds ! - Grumpyguy - 10-08-2010 Advair is a great medicine and probably the first asthma medicine that put it under control. I keep Singular around, but find it mostly useless compared to Advair. CBelt is right though, it is expensive. Luckily I have insurance, but I see what it costs on the print out. |
