Damn Astra Zenica.... their 'Advair' product works for me, but it's so damn expensive I can't stand it. So I'm using it .. less than I should so it lasts longer.
And of course, with allergy season here, I'm having more trouble breathing. And the company offers 'help' with me paying for their insanely expensive meds... a $10 off coupon. Woo hoo. $150 a month drug. Bastiches.

If you're low in Vitamin D, that can aggrevate asthma.

cbelt, assuming you have not already done so, google the buteyko method of breathing. there are some good videos on YT, also, that demonstrate this technique.
another home remedy: boil water, pour in basin, drop in some oil of eucalyptus, put towel over head, enjoy aroma.

Get vitamin D levels up and try this stuff http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=DB-1002. I only take one a day so it took awhile to see any allergy/asthma effects. Like 3-4 weeks. I wonder if taking the 3 a day as on the label would have sped it up. I'm at a point now where I feel I can do with advair 1x day instead of 2x.

Hopefully you have insurance. If not, in four years you will so hang in there. We have insurance to help cover some $25k in prescriptions but only pay $3k of that a year. We pay a lot for the insurance after the old insurance company cancelled their policy once we put in a few claims and they saw what was coming. I hope we never go back to that kind of insurance system again.

Yep. I take one daily. I just ordered a 90 day refill and my copay was $124, not too bad all things considered.

I use Proventil HFA for relief from attacks. It does appear that Singulair is a preventive drug.
Proventil is $50/90 inhalations. Its cheaper, but i don't know if its what you need.

Advair is a great medicine and probably the first asthma medicine that put it under control.
I keep Singular around, but find it mostly useless compared to Advair.
CBelt is right though, it is expensive. Luckily I have insurance, but I see what it costs on the print out.
