FU: On Jury Duty and my visit to my Meniere's Specialist - Grateful11 - 10-07-2010 I had a Doctors appointment with my Meniere's Specialist Tuesday and mentioned to him that I had been called for Jury Duty. He said you have no business being on a jury and simply wrote an excuse, not asking for permanent reprieve but that's what I got in the mail today. I don't drive anymore, I'm on about 4 medications, my hearing is getting worse and my back doesn't allow me to stand or sit for long periods of time. As far as my visit with the doctor went he has put me back on Dyazide which I haven't been on since before I had surgery on my ear for Meniere's in '95. He also mentioned that there's a treatment for injecting steroids behind the ear drum, Intratympanic steroids for the Meniere's and he also mentioned that over time bony growth can close off the shunt put into my Mastoid bone area to drain excess fluid from my inner ear, Endolymphatic Shunt, not exactly wanting to go through 5 hours of surgery to have that redone. I'm going try the Dyazide for a few months and may have the injection, I might then consider surgery as a last resort. Personally I think a lot of my problem with my ear is related to amount of stress I'm under due to my failed back surgery and it looks like they're not going to let return to my old job of 21 years. I've been on sick leave for 18 months now. http://www.surgeryencyclopedia.com/Ce-Fi/Endolymphatic-Shunt.html Re: FU: On Jury Duty and my visit to my Meniere's Specialist - rgG - 10-08-2010 Glad you got out of jury duty, but sorry about the rest. I had an aunt that suffered with Meniere's disease for many years. I know it can be very debilitating. Good luck with the treatment options. Re: FU: On Jury Duty and my visit to my Meniere's Specialist - blooz - 10-08-2010 Yikes. I hope you have better luck in your future treatments.
