Michigan GOP Governor candidate - AllGold - 10-12-2010

He seemed like a decent enough guy. Then I saw his latest commercial where Rick Snyder says:

"50% of all jobs lost in the last 10 years were lost in Michigan. How'd that happen? Politicians gave us the worst business tax in the country, and regulations that make creating jobs almost impossible."

Even if the MBT (Michigan Business Tax) were the highest in the nation--it's not--and these unspecified "regulations" had anything to do with anything, he completely fails to mention the real reason for all the job loss in Michigan.

It should be pretty obvious even if you don't live in Michigan: the auto industry.

Ohio attack ads on the current governor are the same. I think you'll find that's a common theme. Anyone who is an incumbent is getting blamed for the recession/ mini depression. Regardless of political party.

No surprises there... it's attack ads 101...

1- Find something people are afraid of. Tell them your opponent is gonna force them into it.

2- Find something that people are angry about. Tell them it's your opponent's fault. Or, if your opponent isn't the incumbent, tell them that your opponent is gonna make it worse.

Every one of these schnooks has an attack, and none of them have a solution. Meh. Politicians.

There is a special place in Hell for those who create political attack ads.

Sadly, just like the reaction to the old "Ring Around The Collar" commercials, voters in this country respond very well to attack ads despite claiming to dislike them. So the commercials are here to stay.

It would be a trip to end up in hell, but have it mitigated by not qualifying to be housed in that "special place."
