For a newbie, it's a badge of honor.

For someone with a little experience, it's a tradition.

For an old-timer, it's laziness.

For an asshole, it's because he fantasizes that someone will ask him about it so that he can tell you how awesome he is.

I'm with jimmy. The same people buy jackets that have the logo of their over-priced 'designer'.... some kind of overweight infant feline thing, I think.

Hey Jimmy... Here's an idea ! fake Lift Tickets !

"Olympus Mons Ski Area Lift Ticket. Oxygen Included".

that sort of thing.

How about "I mounted Mount Mons!" stickers?

The virgins would buy them up when they figured it out.

I remember in the early 80's when I was a kid in grammar school. My 12 year old classmates kept the ski lift tags on their jackets for the whole season.

Many reasons. Most are difficult to take off, so as Doc said, laziness. In addition to what he said:
- Same reason people collect anything - baseball cards, bottles... they just do.
- Many resorts use RFID which means the tickets get reused every time they go up.
- Sometimes the tickets/cards are tied to other things and may even have cash value on them like a gift card

I have tickets on my snow pants that are from 10+ years ago. I think the first few years were laziness... and I guess the rest have been as well. Lift tickets have changed so much over the years some of them are very "old school."

Jerry: Let me ask you something. When's the last time you went skiing?
George: About six years ago.
Jerry: I think you can take the lift ticket off your jacket now.
George: Women like skiers.

Every one I've ever had easily came off the zipper. Perhaps you need to ask someone with a higher IQ on how to remove them? Hmmm.... who could you ask???
