I out-earned Steve Jobs again this year - Numo - 01-07-2011 But COO Tim Cook did better than I did. What do people do with so much money? http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/01/07/bonuses_help_apples_tim_cook_earn_59m_in_2010_steve_jobs_keeps_1_salary.html Re: I out-earned Steve Jobs again this year - Rick-o - 01-07-2011 > What do people do with so much money? I've often wondered that. When you have enough money for yourself and family for the next 10 generations, what's the point of going after more? To keep it out of the hands of the folks trying to live their version of the American Dream? :dunno: Re: I out-earned Steve Jobs again this year - Racer X - 01-07-2011 Yeah, but Steve takes that dollar bill, folds it, and places it in the G-string of his private pole dancer on his jet.:ohsnap: Re: I out-earned Steve Jobs again this year - Jimmypoo - 01-07-2011 Cook only made $57,500,000 more than the paltry $1,640,000 the year before. All because he did what he was supposed to do...? What Steve Jobs earns doesn't affect what ANYONE else is capable of earning. Create a great product or service, and you create brand new wealth that isn't "taken" from anyone. Where do you think libraries, community centers, universities, etc get most of their donations from? Unions? No.. it's from people like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates donating millions. A good economics class or book will help you not sound stupid in the future ;-) Re: I out-earned Steve Jobs again this year - Wailer - 01-07-2011 Rick-o wrote: I think you need to give them credit for continuing to work everyday in spite of the fact that they have enough money to sit on the beach and have topless women serve them drinks all day. I've never heard of a lottery winner who stays at his meaningless job. Jobs, Cook and most successful entrepreneurs have hit essentially "hit the lottery" and yet they continue to work. They made a lot of money because money isn't the most important thing to them. They have a passion in life and they are fulfilling it. Money is just a measure of the value of your service. You and I should be so lucky. And I agree with Paul F. Money isn't a zero-sum game. Successful entrepreneurs have created so much wealth for people other than themselves.
