200GB seen as 128GB (Hey, heard that one before?) - Greg the dogsitter - 05-10-2006 External firewire...200GB...Disk Utility shows 128GB...you know the routine. Is there a way around this? Thanks, GtDS Re: 200GB seen as 128GB (Hey, heard that one before?) - Mike Sellers - 05-10-2006 How old is the Firewire enclosure? I have an old one that won't format above 128 GB. Re: 200GB seen as 128GB (Hey, heard that one before?) - OWC Larry - 05-10-2006 Absolutely - work around is a new FW enclosure. If the 200GB is a Maxtor - depending on the HD model and what FireWire enclosure you have, you may be able to enable the special ATA/5 Maxtor Big Disk LBA support... but that is dependent on it being a compatible Maxtor drive and a FW enclosure with an Oxford 911 chipset and proper firmware updater support. Otherwise, there is nothing to make the bridge in that enclosure support over 128GB. Re: 200GB seen as 128GB (Hey, heard that one before?) - Greg the dogsitter - 05-10-2006 Thanks, guys.
