XBMC for iOS and Apple TV now available - miK. - 01-21-2011

Very cool news:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/20/xbmc-comes-to-the-new-apple-tv (video demos)
http://www.tuaw.com/2011/01/20/xbmc-for-ios-and-atv2-now-available/

What's interesting is they are saying it is decoding 1080p content. Whether it is
actually playing at 1080p and not 720 is yet to be determined.

(note that these installs are available for jailbroken devices only)

Now, hoping there's an untethered jailbreak available for the Apple TV. I've had to reboot mine a few times.

Looks very cool!

Agreed - my ATV is not very stable and needs to be rebooted about once a week.

This would be a reason to get a new Apple TV. I use XBMC and Boxee on my 1st Gen Apple TV to stream from my home media server.

I consider this fantastic news. My first gen AppleTV wouldn't get any use if it weren't for XBMC. There's been a rumor that Apple will soon release an updated AppleTV with A5 processor (current is A4) which will be dual core and able to play almost any HD content. When that's released, I'm buying one.
