New Ford Transit CNG Taxis to hit Chicago - Mini 9 - 01-22-2011

I wonder if they have inner door handles now?

Ford Transit Connect Taxis will begin winding through the streets of the Windy City in March when a fleet of the alternative-fuel vehicles joins Yellow Cab Chicago.
Taxi Medallion Management purchased the 12 clean-burning compressed natural gas (CNG) Transit Connect Taxis for its fleet. The cabs will be affiliated with Yellow Cab Chicago and bear the company’s logo and color.

Best photo I've seen yet of slider door interior. Though, even when you are next to it, it LOOKS like there is a handle, but try to operate it and you quickly wonder what use it is.

Clearer shot of open door. Where is the handle to close it?

This view pretty much completes the necessary mental images of the door.

I look at those last sumer sitting on the dealers lot and thought that they would make a great small cab.
They are pretty cool little vehicles and I see a few around town being used for service vehicles.
If I had extra cash I would buy one and outfit it as a one man mini camper.

run 'em on H2, and they're really "Clean Burning". CH4 drops a lot of CO and CO2 in the air after combustion.

of course H2 gets made by cracking CH4, so all you do is move the problem to a gas factory someplace.

I think I am bothered by CNG or propane fumes more than I am diesel some days. We've owned a diesel, but worked around the other two, as well.
