Do bicyclists have more respect from motorists now ;-) - kap - 06-03-2011 http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-0603-bike-etiquette-20110603,0,853103.story Re: Do bicyclists have more respect from motorists now ;-) - dmann - 06-03-2011 Pretty sure they could eliminate the deficit here in Illinois if they just started ticketing the offenders in my neighborhood alone. I lost it yesterday when a guy (on a bicycle) flew right through the stop sign and came very close to hitting me (I was walking, BTW.) DM Re: Do bicyclists have more respect from motorists now ;-) - kap - 06-03-2011 I don't lose temper easily but this morning I had to flip a bird at a young mom driver. I could see the the white of her child's eyes from my bike! Re: Do bicyclists have more respect from motorists now ;-) - Manlove - 06-03-2011 I've said it on this forum before, but when I was a kid we were not allowed to ride to school on our own (without a parent) until we passed the Cycling Proficiency Test, which was a test of basic road skills and understanding of the relevant laws. I was so proud when I passed (age 9) and it also coincided with being able to wear trousers instead of shorts to school!!! I looked, apparently England no longer offers the test...budget cuts (take lives). Re: Do bicyclists have more respect from motorists now ;-) - Black - 06-03-2011 Why, kap . . . Re: Do bicyclists have more respect from motorists now ;-) - Kraniac - 06-03-2011 yeah bikists are bending the rules..dont you car-ists bend those rules when on a bike?....dont lie, you know you do..it's what's great about riding a bike in the city..if you stopped at every stop what the hell would be the point...Dman...I'd bet a hunderd that that bikist had you timed perfectly...was not going to hit you.. Motorists suck, even though i am sometimes a motorist, i feel like i suck when im driving a car around the city. 85 to 95 percent of the time TOTALLY UNNECESSARY..You guys in the city driving to work? You suck. Take the train or the bus unless you ABSOLUTELY have to drive America is so ass backwardand selfish and lazy when it comes to transportation..it's embarrassing and such a lame expression of what america is...""you wont seperate me from my SUV..I'ts my RIGHT as an AMERICAN"" ..LOL..it's you're right as a selfish douchebag driving a huge car so you wont have to carry your purse or your man purse...groceries and flowers fit into a Honda Civic..to all the douchebags driving Range Rovers (or similar) with nothing in them...you're all pathetic posers. Answer to the OP's question? No, most REAL drivers are not showing respect..there are still tons of assholes out there..I give bikes the unconditional right of way in those situations..i stop and wait fro them to clear..people behind me start honking...fuck them. I love riding bikes..it makes me feel so damn good. DM Re: Do bicyclists have more respect from motorists now ;-) - kap - 06-04-2011 As a bicyclist, a car driver, a runner and a walker, I have experienced inconsiderate reckless behaviors from a segment of each sub-group. So there is a :censor: apple in every barrel. |
