Free Stuff Monday? - Black - 06-05-2011

I just swapped out my creative T2900 2.1s for a new/used pair of Klipsch 2.1s (aaaaah).
I want the Creatives gone (I am drowning in stuff). Not sure if they're worth the price of shipping so ideally someone in Chicago might have a use for them?

Edit-- speakers spoken for.

Also would like to pass along my old camera while it's still got some use-- Olympus Stylus Verve.

Pretty scratched up but fully functional with an aftermarket wall charger and extra batteries. This thing is indestructable-- good first camera for a kid of modest means . . . .

Since this sticky is already here, I'll go ahead and list this now.

I'm in the process of converting a slew of VHS tapes that have stuff like concerts and band TV appearances on them, mostly from the 1990s. Quality is anywhere from "barely watchable" to "pretty decent". These are really for diehard fans of these bands. Here is a list of what's available so far, with comments on quality if I can remember. I'd REALLY like it if someone took them all, but I will honor requests for individual tapes if you want. I'll send these via Media Mail to keep postage down.

Tape 1 - Indigo Girls on Letterman/STP Unplugged/MTV Nirvana Special - Past, Present and Future. Quality: Fair to Good
Tape 2 - U2 Rattle and Hum Outtakes Vol 1. Quality: Fair
Tape 3 - In Concert: REM/Crowded House/Richard Thompson, MTV 10th Anniv. Special, Paul Simon on SNL, Freddy Mercury Benefit Concert, In Concert: Julian Lennon/Rush/Tori Amos. Quality: Fair to Good
Tape 4 - 1996 MTV VMA's, REM - Road Movie, Pearl Jam Unplugged. Quality - Good
Tape 5 - U2 Compilation, mostly from "U2 Sunday on MTV". Quality - barely watchable
Tape 6 - 10,000 Maniacs - Various concerts and interviews. Actually bought this at "record show" years ago. Quality: barely watchable to Fair. Picture sucks mostly, but sound is ok.
Tape 7 - Indigo Girls TV compilation. Various interviews and performances. Quality - barely watchable to fair.
Tape 8 - U2/MTV tape. More from "U2 Sunday". Lots of clips from U2, but lots of videos of other artists throughout. From back when MTV actually showed videos. Also has Fox's "U2 Zoo TV" special. Quality - Fair to good
Tape 9 - U2 at Rockpalast 1983. Quality: Fair to good
Tape 10 - The Cure Unplugged/REM Unplugged (the first one from 1991), Kurdish Relief concert - 20 minute clip featuring Sting, Peter Gabriel and Sinead O'Connor. Quality: Good
Tape 11 - Lots of non music stuff (A Very Brady Xmas, etc) but has the very first MTV Unplugged show with Jules Shear, Difford and Tilbrook, Eliot Easton and Syd Straw. Quality: fair to good
Tape 12 - REM on Today Show. Quality: Good
Tape 13 - Bono and Edge on Today Show 2003. Quality: Good
Tape 14 - Indigo Girls on Today Show 2002. Quality: Good
Tape 15 - MTV 1995 VMA's/ VH1 Honors show. Quality: Good
Tape 16 - MTV 1992 VMA's/ Rock the Vote special. Quality: Fair to good
Tape 17 - Pretenders on Today Show. BONUS - Pirates of Silicon Valley!!! Quality: good
Tape 18 - REM in Philadelphia 1989. I actually went to this show, but didn't shoot the video. Bought it at a "record show". Quality - Fair to good. The guy kept shutting it off in the middle of songs. So even though the tape is over an hour, there's maybe only 6 or 7 "complete" songs.
Tape 19 - U2 DirecTV Free View special. Clips of videos and interviews. Quality: Good
Tape 20 - More "U2 Sunday" stuff from MTV. Quality: fair to good
Tape 21 - U2 in Syracuse 1987. If I recall correctly, the picture is barely watchable, but the sound is ok
Tape 22 - U2 in Milan Italy 1991. Quality: Fair to good
Tape 23 - MTV Alternative Video Countdown. 4 hours of alternative videos from 1995 or 1996. Guess which one is #1? Oh, come on, you know it!. Here's a hint: the countdown is followed by Nirvana Unplugged. Kind of moot now that they released it on DVD. Quality: Good
Tape 24 - MTV 1992 Innaugural Ball. 10,000 Maniacs and "Automatic Baby" (Stipe/Mills/Clayton/Mullen doing "One") A classic. Followed by Fox's U2 Zoo TV (same as Tape 8, but better quality). Quality: Good
Tape 25 - Indigo Girls in London/Chris Isaac Unplugged/Oasis Spotlight. Quality: Fair to good

Re: Free Stuff Monday? - GeneL - 06-06-2011

I'm still trying to find someone who wants the TiVo Premiere XL that I bought and now don't need.

Anyone owned by a bird or thinking about getting one? I have around four years of BirdTalk Magazines that need a home. These magazines usually feature one species each month, plus they have tons of stories and tips that fit most birds.

If you are interested, let me know what your bird is or what you're thinking about getting and I'll look for a pertinent issue(s). Needless to say, I think birds make wonderful companions, especially cockatoos. Smile

I'd just want mailing costs (envelope and postage).

Precious says, "you can read about Goffins Cockatoos. That's what I am (and we're the best)!

Re: Free Stuff Monday? - RgrF - 06-06-2011

A kid size electric motorcycle from Razer. It was bought for the then 8 or 9 year old. Battery got shot circuited (probably from driving it through damp grass) and it sat in the garage until now.

Has less than 10 hours of use on it but needs a battery.

It's much too heavy and bulky to ship so pick up in the San Fernando Valley would be the option. If not it goes to Goodwill or the Salvies. For some reason my Volvo mechanic thinks it's still worth $100 or so.

Whoops that last comment may seem like asking for $, it's a freebee.

Re: Free Stuff Monday? - cbelt3 - 06-06-2011

Wow. I wish I had as good a listing.

Free for pickup in NE Ohio.

Laserwriter Select 310, WITH Parallel to USB adapter. Acts like a LW Select 360 for windoze and OSX printing. Slow. Black and White. Good for proofing. Honest to goodness PS. Built like a tank. Will last until the sea rising drowns it.

Performa 636TV. OS8. Flying Toasters included ! Actual working analog TV tuner.. there's a TV in that thar Mac ! VGA adapter thingy included.

Power Macintosh G3 (Beige, V1 Mother board). Includes ancient Quark, OS9-ish. VGA adapter thingy included.

Re: Free Stuff Monday? - Jimmypoo - 06-06-2011

That printer is a killer printer (LW 310). I felt guilty tossing 2 of them a few months ago, but they needed
some part swapping back and forth, and I wasn't up for it - with the new one (HP PS level 3) that I got for
$14 with 512MB.

That's a Xerox/Fuji engine in that thing -- good for 200,000 prints before you start having issues OR
TIME -- which can affect the fuser, and in my case, was beginning to happen on one of them, and the
toner was dying on the other one -- and there were just too many lasers here at the house as it was.

But if you can grab one (and don't have other lasers) that is a 600x600 dpi printer with PS Level 2, and
if it has the Fax option - you'll have the fax option! (was that a genius conclusion or what?!?)

Thing must weigh 45-50 pounds. Add the fax option, and it goes up to 104 pounds. I think.

Re: Free Stuff Monday? - space-time - 06-06-2011

that's one heavy Fax option!
