Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 SATA 1 TB Hard Drive: $49.66 @Amazon, 1 day only - JoeM - 06-06-2011

A decent deal with my Amazon Prime to be used as a Time Machine backup for the stock HD in my MP 2.26 8 Core.

Joe,

I'm with RJ. Meh. That and the reviews for this particular model aren't great. I'd look at a different model if you need 7200 rpm even if it's more expensive. If you can do without a 7200 rpm drive, you can find deals for 2TB drives for $10 to $20 more than the aforementioned Seagate.

I have 4 of them, 1 and 1.5 TB and all have been very good. I haven't seen many 2TB drives for less than $75. Since my MP stock boot drive is only 640GB, a 7200 rpm Time Machine backup for $49.66 is OK for me. I realize this is probably not needed by most.

down to $46.99 now

+ it's a SATA-3 {6Gbps} drive.

I paid $44.99 each for the SATA-2 version back in December.
Running a pair in my QNAP TS-210 TurboNAS.

But if the mechanism isn't any different, it doesn't matter if it's SATA 3G or SATA 6G. A drive has to be capable of speeds well over 300MB/s before it matters.

Not bad for a 7200rpm drive, but there was a 2TB Hitachi deal just a few weeks ago for $59.99 A/R for those who just need more space.

Yep, I remember that one but I got to it too late. I have been waiting for a deal on a HD as I had no Time Machine backup set up on my Mac Pro. I didn't want to go any longer without something.
