If the files are JPEGs, I would say your goal is impossible. Does your JPEG file have an expiration date? just open the JPEG and save it again (with a different name!!!), tweaking the settings (I think MS Picture Manager should be able to reduce file size). Then convert to PDF again or see the other post. Let someone else do it for you, you've suffered enough today.
