Who's got a powered 7-port USB hub they're really enamored with? - Black - 06-20-2011

It's that time again--seems to happene about every 1-2 years-- one of my USB hubs is petering out (one of these cheapo things, FWIWSmile

Looking at my mess, I think ideally I'd like something weighted or something that clamps down to the desk somehow.

I see a MacAlly and a Newer Tech that are good candidates but I thought I'd see if anyone here feels strongly about anything else.
Thanks!

I second that d-link hub. I've had mine for about 8 years with no problems.

Thx-- looks reasonably solid; any idea how much power it supplies to each plug? Or maybe you can just tell me the amperage of the adapter?

Was also gonna suggest D-Link - the one I have has been no problem for five years now.

Sell everything. Simpler that way. No USB peripherals to connect, no need for a hub.

Dr. Bott T7Hub has been rock solid for me. 0.5A on each port with AC adapter, but will also run bus-powered if you want. Not cheap at $40. Available in black, white and silver.

I second the Dr. Bott T7 Hub. Works great. I did Velcro it in place to hold it down - it is kinda light.

I just picked up a TrippLite 7 port hub (it is also sold under other names) - it works fine. It is a tower config with 2 port on the the front. Just what I needed for the better half. I did notice the power supply is rated for only 3.0 amps - it should 3.5 amps if all 7 ports get .5a each like the T7.

Thanks, folks. FYI it seems most 7-port hubs have power supplies with less than 3 amp capacity. I have not come across one poking about tonight that has more than a 3 amp supply. I imagine the expectation is that you would not have 7 high power devices connected concurrently.
