college seminar wants to use flip video hd for website use?

i'm involved in a college seminar doing oral histories.

the students want to post their interviews on a website they will put together.

several students already have flip cameras-the ultra hd

http://store.theflip.com/en-us/produ...aHD4GB1HR.aspx

for talking head shots in well lit environments, the 720p image isn't bad.

the camera is simple for the kids to use.

the audio is adequate.

the flip hd shoots a h264 codec so its very web-able.

the kids have macbooks so the can cut the footage in imovie.

my question:

has anyone ever actually seen any flip video posted on the web?

thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.

be well

rob

Yes, I actually use it to shoot company product videos for posting on youtube and our corporate site. We actually do simple editing in iMovie. The videos are quick and cheap to produce and work for our needs.

On the negative side, it's a digital zoom, there is no stablization and shooting dark on dark sometimes produces grainy or noisy video. I'll PM you a link where you can see them.

My school uses flip cameras for it's video program. They look fine broadcast on a projection screen, should be fine for web.

I have a Kodak Zi8 and I have been very pleased with it. I import the video with iPhoto and then can edit the segments in iMovie.

Here is an idea of how a 720p video looks on YouTube (from our 2010 summer vacation).

Didn't Cisco kill the Flip line?

because cisco stopped selling the flip they are now greatly discounted.

the flip ultra hd 2gb (1hr record time) was selling at target for $49. free shipping. i bought two for the project.

for $100 i can get the students to shoot and edit.

i wasn't sure of the video quality on the web.

i'll keep researching.

be well

That's great! These cameras are really best used in outdoor daylight - the Flip anyway is.
