Which Apple Edu printer? - tburns - 07-02-2011 Does anyone have any emotion regarding any of the 4 printers Apple is offering as part of the edu promo? I probably will will not keep it, because they have no laser printers, but I at least want to get one that I have a hope of reselling. I could find NO reviews of the HP 3054, and mediocre reviews of the Epson nx420. Re: Which Apple Edu printer? - Gareth - 07-02-2011 Haha, I wish you luck on the reselling of a cheap printer. Pick the one that comes with more expensive ink. ![]() Re: Which Apple Edu printer? - Numo - 07-02-2011 I try to buy printers that accept generic ink - not all do. Maybe that would help resale. Re: Which Apple Edu printer? - Go To Top - 07-02-2011 4? Re: Which Apple Edu printer? - Speedy - 07-02-2011 Isn't HP the only one that the print head is on the cart so plugging doesn't ruin your printer like the Epson, etc.? Re: Which Apple Edu printer? - WHiiP - 07-02-2011 Since you didn't list all the printers, or, provide a link for appropriate information, I can't help you. It's Forum courtesy to provide appropriate information when asking a specific question. With this being your 10th post, it's easy not to understand. :coffee: Re: Which Apple Edu printer? - tburns - 07-02-2011 Sorry, it was not my intent to be rude. The offer appeared in my cart on the Apple page, and I wasn't sure about the security ramifications of linking to my cart. The two printers I listed above are the only "free" (w/ rebate) ones. The other two would end up costing $50. I tried to paste in a small picture, but that would require linking to my cart. Epson Stylus NX420 All-in-One Printer $99.95 Add to Cart Epson WorkForce 630 Wireless All-In-One Printer $149.95 Add to Cart HP Deskjet 3054 All-in-One Printer (J610a) $99.95 Add to Cart HP Photosmart Plus e-All-in-One (B210a) $149.95 Add to Cart Pasting a pict withou the use of a link, gives me the above text. (didn't know that would work!) Anyway, I can do web and forum searches myself--I was't asking for anyone to do that. It was my intent to get anyone's impression, based on their experience, hence the request for "emotion." I thought a lot of other forum users might be interested because we are right in the middle of the edu promotion, and many are probably receiving the same offer. I do thank you for the courteous way in which you informed me of my rudeness, as i said it was not intentional and it reminded me that I do appreciate when others provide links. I do not possess the skills of the more experienced posters. Re: Which Apple Edu printer? - JoeH - 07-02-2011 The full list of over two dozen printers is on the rebate form, http://images.apple.com/promo/pdf/L376656S_PrinterPro_PC25_Web.pdf. Son bought the Epson NX420 with his Mac and has been happy with it. The printers currently available in the on-line store are listed here, http://store.apple.com/us_edu_51249/browse/home/shop_mac/mac_accessories/printers?mco=MTM3NzA2NjQ. Re: Which Apple Edu printer? - space-time - 07-02-2011 as far as I remember from general discussion on this forum about inkjet printers (and a few comments about Laser printers as well): Epson has good (best?) picture quality but it used to clog, they claim they fixed the issue but some people will still not buy an Epson HP: The print head is part of the cartridge, which makes the cartridge expensive but also reduces the risk of clogging (you would just install a new cartridge and start fresh). I hear their drivers are also problematic. Lexmark: regarded as low quality junk by most people. Canon: good value, no clogging problems (at least much better than Epson used to be), and in general good driver support (although I had some trouble installing a WiFi MP560 on 10.6, used to work fine in 10.5.8) Brother: I don't remember much about their inkjet printers (they are generally recommeded for their Laser printers) Samsung: I am not sure if they even make inkjet printers, I only remember seeing Laser printers. Please feel free to correct me or add additional comments. I tried to make a general summary from what I remember reading here over the past few years or so, and of course there are plenty of people who had different experience from what I summarized above. as always YMMV Re: Which Apple Edu printer? - Grateful11 - 07-03-2011 Speedy wrote: Not everyone has major clogging problems with Epson's. |
