Global warming and sea levels with shoreline map??? - wowzer - 07-11-2011
I'm thinking about buying a home near the shore..but am concerned about rising sea levels. Does anyone know where I may find the prediction maps for the rising shore level?

Hard to say how reliable maps will be. Parts of the California coast are 40' up from the ocean, but in San Francisco one set of cliffs eroded back 20' of bluff due to the sea eroding the base and it falling down and washing out to sea.

True that it is hard to figure out where/how much (if any) the shoreline will change, but it's nice to at least consider it...

If you live by a bluff in San Francisco you'd just move to another one of your homes.

South Florida for sure I would not touch. Otherwise, this is a minor factor to consider because most projections are talking about...what...20-30 years out?

Unless you're building a fortress of immortality you probably want to be concerned with likelihood of erosion from storms.

I would suggest buying a house at least 20mm higher to be safe.
