Budget digital signage - ConnectShare Movie technology from Samsung - Rain - 07-12-2011

Have a client looking for an affordable way to a digital signage set up in his Chapel office. They essentially want to post announcements and promote Base events on a small LCD tv. I suggested a professional system like Tightrope but due to the red tape involved with putting a device on Base internet (NMCI) we are looking at other non web-based alternatives.

Samsung has this ConnectShare Movie technology built into their TVs now. Best I understand, I can save the announcements as JPG files on a Thumbdrive, then drop it into the TV and it will play it back as a slide show. (even movie files it seems)

ANYONE have experience with this to confirm my assumptions?

How big a screen do you want? Most digital picture frames will do slideshows.

Second the cheap digital picture frame idea. Just secure the ports, and it can't be 'hacked' by some wag posting un-Christian imagery

I'm pretty sure any DLNA certified tv can do that plus audio files and video in certain formats. I use an older Panasonic 50" Plasma in our reception area to do just that
