question about iPhone 4 regarding SMS - MacArtist - 07-13-2011

Evidently when I send a text message, it's not identifying me to the receiver of the message. Which makes for some interesting replies.

How do I fix this so they know it's me?

Thanks!

I went to Settings > Phone and I see the following items:

My Number...FaceTime...TTY...Change Voicemail Password...International Assist

No "Show My Caller ID"

I have many contact's numbers entered twice- once with the standard format, and once with *82 as a prefix.

This lets me know who's calling (standard format) and when I call or text to the *82 number, they know who's calling or texting.

When I just dial any regular number, my number is still blocked.

I control who see's it and how doesn't.

I wasn't aware you could ever get a text message to show your identity, unless you were already in the recipient's contact list. I always figured that's why so many folks I know have a sort of 'sig' of their name appended to every text...
