SunRocket VOIP deal this weekend - Ken Sp. - 05-24-2006

If you want great deal on VOIP--stay tuned this holiday weekend.

http://www.sunrocket.com/

So far this year almost every holiday they have offered 2 years for $199 with all taxes and extras included. They also renew current programs for $99/year. Look for it on the weekend--Sunday and Monday in particular. Free long distance calls in the US and Canada with a $3/month credit to international calls. A second number is included allowing you to choose almost any area code or area--it will be a local call for someone in that area to call your number.

Skype also offers free service till the end of the year.

I'm afraid of power and network outages. If I lose power, I lose phone service. If Comcast dumps, I lose phone service. Right?

Last two winters we lost power for 2-4 days each time. To be out of communications could be a bad thing.

that's why god invented cell phones.

seriously though, i have my router, cable modem, and phone on a UPS. more often than not, the power goes out but the cable service does not.

i have voicepulse. you can program the service so that if your VOIP is unavailable (be it network or power outage) the calls are immediately routed to an alternate number - in my case, my cell phone.

I've had SunRocket for about a year now. I love it. There's no way I'd go back to BellSouth with the rates they charge. Woohoo SunRocket!

Love sunrocket here. Wish I had known about the two years for the price of one. Will look for the additional year for $99. I am on the year for $199 plan. It is still a good deal.

I intially signed up for the 3 free months, but when they did the free year deal, I cancelled the first line and signed us up in my wife's name. Since it was within the 30 day trial period, it was a matter of sending the original equipment back. They make it very easy, even including a UPS pre-paid shipping label.

No problems with the service once I got a QoS adapter for my network.

It has been about 6 weeks since I submitted the documentation to get our landline number ported over. Hopefully that will be soon, so I can stop paying $50/month for that.

Re: SunRocket VOIP deal this weekend - Sam3 - 05-29-2006

Yep, they're doing it. But only until 2 PM Eatern/11 AM Pacific today.

Only on new activations, it looks like. No renewals.

I think I'll take the plunge. I normally pay this price for just one month of phone service (~$50 SBC local, ~$50 Talk America long-distance.)

Re: SunRocket VOIP deal this weekend - Sam3 - 05-29-2006

Oh, wait. This year it's 1 year @ $99, not 2 years @ $199. The two years would have been more appealing to me, but oh well, 1 year is a good trial period.
