utility to recover non-mac formatted sd card on to mac os 10.6.8 - goodmanx - 07-17-2011

long story short, she's more than a tad displeased with the liberties i took in reformatting a drive with un-saved iphoto pix.

the 2gb and 8 gb sd cards with some of those pix are from fuji and canon cameras. diskwarrior tells me that the directories on each card cannot be rebuilt and that neither disk is a macintosh disk.

i'll appreciate any suggestions re other mac software that might be able to read those cards.

the 320 gb drive was reformatterd via disk utility, but only about 30 gigs were written over it. any suggestions/chances for finding anything is retrievable from the prior iphoto library on that disk?

suggestions for roses, etc., will be regarded as redundant, albiet appropriate.

tia.

Could you explain a bit more what you did and what you are trying to do. You have mentioned three different storage devices, a 2GB SD Card, a 8GB SD card, and a 320 GB drive of unknown origin.

What did you erase and what are you trying to recover data from?

And how did you erase them?

PhotoRec has been helpful for me in recovering photos from SD cards.

I am sure the best way to format a card is in the camera it is being used in.

Card Formatting

Card Formatting

That is not an advisable thing to do if the intention is to recover photos from that card.

Still not clear what got accidentally erased here, the SD cards, or the 320 GB drive.

GGD,

That advise was for getting started on the right foot, not recovering from mistakes and errors. Should of mentioned that?

PhotoRec has been great for me, too.

To recover formatted removable sd card on Mac OS X, there is another good program that may also have good performance. Here is the link and hope be allowed to share.
Data Recovery for Mac

I tried it with My iMac 10.6, it only takes me about 12 hours to finish scanning my 500GB Macintosh HD. Moreover, it has a function "Save & Resume Scan" which means you don't have to wait for a whole day before those deleted items are recovered. Regards.
