Unsung heroes, the volunteer clean-up crews of London - Grace62 - 08-09-2011

Saw a photo earlier that I loved but can't find it now - but it was of a large group of people in the streets of London, all holding up brooms.
It's a great image. Shows resilience, pride, compassion, and great spirit.

Reminded me of the aftermath of WTO here in Seattle. Downtown was put back together in very short time, I went to the area that had seen the worst vandalism just a few days later and you wouldn't have known anything had happened.

The damage to London is far, far more serious and will take a long while to repair, but I do admire the spirit to just get out there and take care of it, rather than sitting around feeling sorry for yourself and waiting on someone else to do it.
