What the best way remove sweat stains from a shirt collar and cuffs? Laundry alone hasn't done the job. Blow torch is a bit dramatic.

You should use something like Shout or Oxy clean on those areas every time you do laundry. Once a stained item has been in the dryer it's hard as hell to get the stain out.

Phosphates are really cool. Instead of acting like a precipitating agent, they act like a chelating agent. This means that the calcium and magnesium cations are bound up but stay in solution so that your detergent becomes more affective. Since theses cations don't precipitate out, they are easily rinsed away, and don't deposit themselves in your clothing or the parts of your washing machine.

Shout (which is an enzyme based remover) works perfectly. I will apply to the collar during periodic washings (not every time I wash).

Can Shout! also get out the grease spots left behind after kids wipe their hands on their clothes, rather than a napkin?
