food processor part 2 - lazydays - 09-13-2011 I posted this in the old thread but thought it would get some more action if I started a new one. My mom ended up purchasing a $40 black and decker which handled the zucchini just fine. I was wondering if I should add a food processor to my kitchen arsenal anyway. It appears a kitchen aid, which would match my other appliances, would run about $150. I'm having hard time thinking of just when I would use it though. Making zucchini relish once a year just isn't enough of an incentive. What else do you guys use your food processors for? Btw, I already have a very nice kitchen aid blender and a big pro bowl mixer. Re: food processor part 2 - M>B> - 09-13-2011 You already have 2 out of 3 of the major appliances, just use your imagination and ad lib from there! If you must have one, they are all over craigs list. Re: food processor part 2 - Chakravartin - 09-13-2011 My mom uses hers for chopped liver and cole slaw. ...about once a year for each. I think that a $15 mandoline slicer, one of those $10 veggie-choppers and a good mini hand-blender would do 99% of the jobs that most people use expensive food processors for without taking up anywhere near the cabinet and counter space. Re: food processor part 2 - haikuman - 09-13-2011 I googled Food Processor Recipe's. There are a gazillion things you can make if you have the time and inclination *(:>* http://www.foodnetwork.com/topics/food-processor/index.html http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=Food+Processor+recipe's&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8#hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&sa=X&ei=SktvToLpJfGdiAe7vvnMCQ&ved=0CB4QvwUoAQ&q=Food+Processor+recipes&spell=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=d78eaab16b2eee9b&biw=1049&bih=587 Re: food processor part 2 - Black - 09-13-2011 Pesto!!!!! Re: food processor part 2 - MikeF - 09-13-2011 We use ours to collect dust. Too much hassle to pull out, use, clean. End up just using a knife. Re: food processor part 2 - Pam - 09-13-2011 I use mine for chopping nuts and chocolate as well as pureeing black beans for cupcakes and prepping fruit and milk for the ice cream maker. |
