Adobe CS4 to CS5 upgrade question - dotman - 09-14-2011

I've been running the cs4 creative suite for a while and just got the full version of cs5. what's the preferred way to upgrade. particulary not wasting or losing a serial for cs4 should i want it on other machines, if that would even happen if i just ran the cs5 installer. so should i deactivate 4 and uninstall, or doesn't it matter.

dot.

If you bought the CS5 full retail version, then deactivate CS4 and install CS5. If you bought the CS5 upgrade version, then you'll likely need to enter the CS4 SN if it's not already installed and activated.

When we upgraded from CS3 to CS4, the CS4 installer didn't touch the CS3 apps at all. They were left intact and fully functioning. Hopefully CS5 does the same thing.

When my mom installed CS5 her original CS or CS2 install was left untouched as well. And it kind of freaked her out. I told her just to throw it away. But it took a lot of convincing. Like her computer would explode if she did...or something.
