Ready for DQOD? (dumb question of the day) - wurm - 10-08-2011 I'm going to replace a part in my oven. Step one of instructions says to unplug appliance. But the plug is behind the thing and it's a bit of a hassle to slide it out far enough to unplug it. It's certainly doable, but I'm wondering if it wouldn't be just as effective – if not even better – to flip the circuit breaker off. It will certainly be easier. Power off is power off, no? Re: Ready for DQOD? (dumb question of the day) - sekker - 10-08-2011 That's what the breakers are for! Re: Ready for DQOD? (dumb question of the day) - RonT - 10-09-2011 Six of one, half dozen of the other. Re: Ready for DQOD? (dumb question of the day) - pipiens - 10-09-2011 Just be sure you turnoff the correct breaker. Re: Ready for DQOD? (dumb question of the day) - wurm - 10-09-2011 Thanks, folks. I guess I was wondering why that option wasn't mentioned in the instructional video. Probably because in most instances it's a no-brainer to pull the plug. And yes, that breaker is one of the few that's actually labeled. But I'll still confirm it before futzing around with the oven. Re: Ready for DQOD? (dumb question of the day) - olnacl - 10-09-2011 That'll be 220, so be sure the breaker has the two switches linked and both are off. Personally, I'd pull it away from the wall and unplug it. Might be a few dust bunnies behind that could use some cleaning anyway. Re: Ready for DQOD? (dumb question of the day) - what4 - 10-09-2011 Ow. The cost of hitting the wrong breaker is very serious indeed. Enough so to unplug the stove. Re: Ready for DQOD?
