OT: EchoLocation... Ever tried it ? - cbelt3 - 11-13-2011 http://www.cnn.com/2011/11/09/tech/innovation/daniel-kish-poptech-echolocation/index.html?hpt=hp_bn6 Fascinating... As a youth, I was told I might 'go Blind' by the time I was 40. So I was rather fascinated by the idea, and spent time and energy learning to walk with my eyes tightly shut, maneuver in the dark, etc... The fascination made caving rather easy, but one dark night I tried 'echo location' in a city raquetball court after the lights failed. And discovered that I could actually hear and predict the location of the ball about 50% of the time by emitting an off-tune whistle. My friends were astonished to hear me hitting the ball every other time. I personally think it's a great thing to teach the Blind. Re: OT: EchoLocation... One benefit is that it is impossible for my wife to sneak up on me, at least when we are at home. Re: OT: EchoLocation...
