Caribbean vacation suggestion - lazydays - 01-18-2012 In a few days I will celebrate my 19th wedding anniversary. Quite awhile ago I promised my wife a Caribbean vacation for our 20th. Since I know absolutely nothing about the caribbean I feel like I should start researching possible locations. I'm guessing some of you have been there and can give me some advice. Some info, I am not very physically active so I won't be doing any hiking or biking at my destination. I WILL be looking for sailing opportunities though. So a resort with boats available would be nice. Other than sailing I probably would not leave the resort, I'm not an explorer, so I would be looking for a place that can provide it all. By that I mean a place to swim, get a massage, multiple restaurants without me driving, snorkeling etc. Thanks for any suggestions. Re: Caribbean vacation suggestion - Paul F. - 01-18-2012 Never been there either... But you might consider Puerto Rico as a destination. US Territory, so no passport required, etc. As for specific resorts? Not a clue. I'd post my link to my favorite resort (never having been there) in the Domincan Republic, but their version of "all inclusive" is probably NOT what you're looking for on an Anniversary trip ![]() Re: Caribbean vacation suggestion - N-OS X-tasy! - 01-18-2012 Turks & Caicos is great. Costa Rica is a perennial favorite. Re: Caribbean vacation suggestion - rgG - 01-18-2012 We just got back from a trip to Atlantis on Paradise Island (Nassau) and it was great. Lots to do and see and plenty of dining choices. Re: Caribbean vacation suggestion - OWC Jamie - 01-18-2012 don't sail with this guy, he caves under pressure ![]() Re: Caribbean vacation suggestion - bazookaman - 01-18-2012 billb wrote: I've heard he's quite the pushover. Re: Caribbean vacation suggestion - Billybob - 01-18-2012 What's your budget? Atlantis can be pricey, but it has everything. My daughter and her hubby got a condo in Puerto Rico and absolutely loved it. I'm a big fan of St. Martin. There's a Club Med type resort on the Dutch side, but you can sneak away and go to some great restaurants on the French side if you yearn for something less commercial. The easiest is to try Club Med or that ilk, and let them arrange everything. Personally, I'm taking the wife to Hawaii for our 30th. Plan to do lots of hiking, biking, and snorkeling in Maui and Kauai. The wife might even join me for some of these activities. To each their own. Re: Caribbean vacation suggestion - Kludgy Thingy - 01-18-2012 We went to Dominican Republic last year, all inclusive. It was fairly reasonable. http://www.cheapcaribbean.com/ Re: Caribbean vacation suggestion - DeusxMac - 01-18-2012 N-OS X-tasy! wrote: Loved Costa Rica, and it does have Caribbean coastline on the East, but having been to several Caribbean islands, Costa Rica is not truly "Caribbean."
