iPad and magazines - decocritter - 01-19-2012 My only experience is Elle Decor on Zinio, which is nice. I was given a mail subscription to Martha Stewart Living. This entitles you to a free subscription for the iPad. Other than this I find magazines to be very expensive for the iPad. The Experience on the iPad is pretty neat. Some of the ads become video/sound content. Some of the scrolling is a bit odd. It will be a 2 finger swipe between pages, but an up and down for stories with more than one page. Several times I have not finished a story. Another thing I like is retail links to items in the stories. I would think that this increases the purchase of these items. In a hard copy magazine, I forget to flag the page or actually follow thru. Re: iPad and magazines - Kate - 01-19-2012 I found an online deal for Wired! magazine for $3.00 a year (hard copy), and signed up for 3 years. As soon as I got the first issue, I logged in with the iPad, it's great on the iPad. I also subscribe to a couple of photo magazines via Zinio, they have $7 annual sales once in a while. I love magazines on the iPad. Kate Re: iPad and magazines - guitarist - 01-19-2012 I'm getting Food & Wine, and WIRED, and I think one other, because I already had print subscriptions. Nothing really stands out yet, though it is great showcase for photography--more vivid on an illuminated screen than a printed page. And I agree about the expense for non-subscribers. It's almost better to get the best deals on print subscriptions, which you can often get for mere pennies, due to desperate promotional schemes (though this is risky, they're like a plague once they got your name and address) then benefit from the digital version. I'd like to hear what iPad magazines are liked and recommended. Re: iPad and magazines - Kate - 01-19-2012 I like National Geographic, Wired, Vanity Fair, Outdoor Photographer and Esquire. Kate |
