What has happened to eBay?!? - DaviDC. - 02-02-2012 I decided to sell my OS X Leopard DVD & I feel like I'm chasing my tail around on eBay. I haven't sold anything since 2008, but I don't think it should be this difficult to set up a simple auction. I remember coming across comments about this sort of thing from time to time here but apparently failed to pay enough attention to the topic. Even the eBay guide isn't offering enough help to make this easy. I have a copy of GarageSale but it crashes every time I launch it, so that's not doing me any good. Anybody want to trade a Color Nook for a Leopard DVD? :-) Re: What has happened to eBay?!? - C(-)ris - 02-02-2012 I'll give you $20 for it... just sold mine yesterday for $125. Re: What has happened to eBay?!? - voodoopenguin - 02-02-2012 I sold a model railway layout before Christmas and was very pleased with my auction details with many photos and also an embedded YouTube video, many people commented on how good it was. I'm sure it helped it to achieve an excellent price. Yesterday I tried to sell another layout in the same way, lots of description, many photos and a little YouTube video but eBay wouldn't have it, they are not allowing me to embed the video any more. I can put an address for people to go and see it but that's not the same as it actually being within the description. Another little annoyance to add to the many that eBay have done in the last few years. Unfortunately they still have the biggest market and not using them for certain items would be silly. Paul Re: What has happened to eBay?!? - john dough - 02-02-2012 Wow! I did not know that 10.5 discs are still in demand. I have several 10.5 discs that are no longer needed which are now slated for sale on Ebay. Some copies went for $170! Re: What has happened to eBay?!? - Gilbert - 02-02-2012 I sold my copy of Leopard on Amazon.com over the weekend. I listed it for $150 and it sold within 12 hours. The nice thing about Amazon is that you don't have to take time to develop the ad - you just piggy back on their existing listing. It took about 3 minutes to list it. A word of caution - on your first listing, it does take a couple of weeks to get your money. You also have to provide them with a bank account for them to deposit the funds into your account. In addition, Amazon charged nearly $25 in fees but the last I checked, that was close to eBay / PayPal fees taking into account the limited time I had to spend to post the sale. Also, since it is not an auction, the sale can close more quickly. Anyways, good luck! Re: What has happened to eBay?!? - space-time - 02-02-2012 Gilbert wrote: yes, amazon charges about 18-20% fees for software. But then ebay +paypal is about the same. And from amazon you get the money in 2-3 business days once you have linked a bank account. if you don't request the money, then every two weeks they make an automatic deposit, but if you need money right away, just initiate a deposit yourself. Like I said, 2 days, very rarely 3 days Re: What has happened to eBay?!? - AllGold - 02-02-2012 Unfortunately, I have a bunch of film camera equipment to sell so there's no Amazon listings to piggy back off of. I'm stuck with ebay. And my local area isn't big enough for Craigslist to work on that esoteric stuff either. |
