Circling the RIM Faster... Contract manufacturer to stop making Crackberries in 3 months - cbelt3 - 06-18-2012

When the company goes rapidly bankrupt, what will happen to the millions of users who are still in transition or outside 'changeover' range with their cell providers ? I expect RIM's servers to go dark as well, which means that there will be hordes of angry users with no access to their disappeared data, email, whatever.

This is going to get ugly FAST.

Then it's really time to party.

Not sure why people are so gleeful over RIM's apparent demise. Their phones are decent enough, if nothing else, Blackerries still excel at communication via the typed word. Battery life is pretty good. Truth to tell, I miss my old Curve with UMA calling.

Gleeful ?

Not really, mostly sad. They had a good product. But they squandered it, and Apple and the Droids have eaten their entire business. Business history is filled with these sort of things.

My corporation depends heavily on Blackberries. I'm sure we're watching this quite closely. I know we're rolling out iOS devices, but we're so conservative that we will probably be caught short whem RIM finally dies.. probably for good in 2013.

Oooh! Sounds like the quintessential "There's an app for that" call to action.

I admit to taking some joy in seeing this.

I watched the founder desperately try to use his fortune to force the NHL to sell him a team so that he could move it to his home province. His bashing around left some long term damage.

I see RIM as just another iomega... a one hit wonder that assumed the world would stand still so that they could continue to reap fortunes. Biz history is full of these successes turned failures. This is just another one...

.....I guess soon enough RIMming will just be a thing of of the past....??

....what a shame.....

Why expect servers to go dark? I betcha there will be a smooth bankruptcy transition, and someone will make bucks...
