Do I have to pay for Mountain Lion twice? - bedouin - 07-27-2012

I downloaded ML on my 2008 iMac yesterday without any problems and now I want to update my 2009 iMac which is at another location with ML but it does not show that I purched it when I log into the app store on the 2009 iMac.

Anyone have any thoughts?

TIA

Did you keep the Installer.dmg?

I don't think you have to pay for it twice.

I've had that same worry with other apps when downloading to another device. I think you should be ok. Hopefully someone else can verify 100% that's the case so I don't lead you astray!

I did not see the installer.dmg on the desktop of the other computer.
Does the App Store use that?

Would it not show up in my "purchases" and I would just install it again?

If so, it is not showing up there.

It wouldn't show up any longer on the computer if it was installed, i don't think. Once installed, i believe it disappears.

I don't know if it would show up on the other computer under purchases once logged in via that machine. It may only show on the original machine that you installed it on.

Again, i could be wrong. Go on, roll the dice and try and d/l it again Wink

So when you see the listing for it in the App Store it just shows the price, not "Installed"?

Maybe try it from the other Mac and see if there's an option to re-download it there.

And then next time save the installer and create a bootable USB stick.

OK my first sentence above obviously made no sense.

Make sure it is on the same iTunes account as the original Mac

I installed it on three macs, after you log into the app store the "$19.99" changes into "Install".
