Yeah, Vince has been a gunslinger on guitar since the 70's and the Pure Prairie League. Check out the highlight DVDs from Clapton's Crossroads Festivals for some of his recent playing.

Vince is a tremendous guitarist. He was once offered the second guitar spot in Dire Straits by Mark Knopfler but turned it down.

I watched the whole Crossroads episode and if I remember correctly, he mentioned that Knopfler was a guitarist that he really looked up to or something like that.
