Rosemary~! what to do with plant over the winter? - mrbigstuff - 11-13-2012 I live in Zone 5b and can't seem to get my rosemary to survive inside. If you take your plant indoors, when do you do it? Re: Rosemary~! what to do with plant over the winter? - iaJim - 11-13-2012 It should already be inside. Pretty hard to keep them alive without a greenhouse. You might be better off just getting a new one in the spring. Re: Rosemary~! what to do with plant over the winter? - blooz - 11-13-2012 i have one I bought and never had outside. Just sits on a window sill, I've had it for two years. You have to remember to water them every couple-three days Re: Rosemary~! what to do with plant over the winter? - RgrF - 11-13-2012 We plant external heaters over the backyard hammocks and lounges, the fire pit takes care of the rest. Re: Rosemary~! what to do with plant over the winter? - Phy - 11-13-2012 I've lost several rosemary plants (big ones) during winters, yet my daughter-in-law only 40 miles away in Seattle has never lost hers. Not sure why.. except that she's close to the water and I am about a half-hour away. Re: Rosemary~! what to do with plant over the winter? - freeradical - 11-13-2012 Rosemary seems to grow like a weed here in Sacramento. People prune them into hedges. Temperatures get as low as the upper teens/low twenties, and yes we get frost. So, I think that Rosemary is little bit more hardy than people think. If that's the case, then root depth might play a part in their hardiness as well as the ground retaining heat better than a pot. |
