Checking In - 5 Months - maco - 11-14-2012

Tomorrow is the official 5 month anniversary of my wife's passing. She passed away just a few minutes after midnight. Today is the more meaningful day for me. This is the day that all hell broke loose and we lost her. She had been in hospital for a week. Prior to that Thursday we assumed that she would be going home and that all was well. I am glad that the doctor let me stay in the room that day as a team of 14 tried everything that they could to keep her here.

Can't get this song out of my head. Been singing it to myself all day long.

While I'm far away from you, my baby,
I know it's hard for you, my baby,
Because it's hard for me, my baby,
And the darkest hour is just before dawn---

Each night before you go to bed, my baby,
Whisper a little prayer for me my baby.
And tell all the stars above
This is dedicated to the one I love...

I've always loved that song, even before the Mamas & the Papas covered it, but your post gives it new meaning.

Best wishes to you.

Maco,

My heart goes out to you losing your spouse and partner. How are you doing with grief and moving on? You know this forum is a place to get plenty of support, but hopefully you have friends and family you can reach out and hug.

Hang in there, and take care of yourself.

I'm doing okay. Probably better than many who find themselves in my situation. The pain part is never bad - lets me know that I am alive and human. The hardest times are the "I don't care about anything days."

Luckily those days are few and far between. I am blessed with faith, family and friends. I tried some grief groups, but they weren't right for me. The people were much older. Also, their experience seemed to be quite different than mine.

Don't know what my "new life" will be.

Best wishes maco...

Great to hear that you've got "faith, family & friends". That's really important, as you know!

Love and light to you!
