It appears I can't use my Canon LIDE 30 anymore unless you guys know a way.
I use Genius Scan for iPhone most of the time, but very occasionally, I need a "real" scan. What's the cheapest basic scanner I can buy?

Have you tried the LiDE70 driver and Image Capture?

The standard edition of VueScan is almost as expensive as a cheap scanner.

dunno about very cheapest, but I got a very workable printer/scanner/fax Canon MX490 for $30 shipped from Canon. Came with full size ink cartridges that alone would run $25. Check the refurb section in the canon store, and or slickdeals for frequent % off coupons.

look at the system profile to verify that its seen on the USB bus.
