Passbook question - space-time - 01-13-2013

Wife got iPhone 5 and installed an App from Target and now she has a coupon in Passbook. I would like to know how to get more cards in there, like Library card, grocery store, CVS card, etc.

Thanks.

Passbook is for stores/services that create a card for it. It's not for importing/using your own cards. Check the app store. i would think CVS might have one; i think walgreen's does. it's doubtful your library does. the only one i find useful is Starbucks. Delta just enabled one for passbook so i'll bring that in the next time I fly with them.

Key Ring App will let you enter your own cards.

I use "Cardstar"

Space,

Apple royally skewed this up as far as I'm concerned. As I said in a different thread many moons ago:

"And, this is why I'm not using Passbook. Many of the cards I use the most do not have apps affiliated with them. Passbook is useless when it comes to these. I have Apps that are useful with Passbook. I just don't use the apps often. Haven't had a reason. So, again, it makes Passbook less useful.

As a gateway to other apps, Passbook may become useful as it matures. But, it would've been nice to make it a combination of a gateway to other apps and a system that is similar to Cardstar. That way, you'd have the best of both worlds. If Passbook was like that, I'd already be using it. As it stands now, Passbook will remain in my "Unused Apple Apps" folder."

I said that in September and my assessment remains the same. To me, Passbook is useless. I still don't use Passbook at all. Cardstar, 0n the other hand, is a must have app.

I think pinion or somebody said that if you setup Passbook on one device, the coupon notices or whatever show up on all the devices tied to that same iTunes AppleID account kinda like an iMessage pops up on all your devices without being able to selectively/temporarily turn it off some of them. True?

Thanks, we loaded Card star on wife's iPhone and she loaded usual cards (CVS, ShopRite, Library, etc) and that made her very happy. Happy wife -> happy ST

SPace,

Glad it worked. Make sure you create a cardstar account and backup your cards. That and if she plans to put card like credit cards and ATM cards into her iphone - something I don't recommend - use a secure app like 1Password. Don't use Cardstar.
