broke my Bodum French press - Fritz - 01-13-2013 wahhhhhhhhhhhh.... Since this is second one I've broken in a year, perhaps it's time to move away from glass. Whadya think? Aeropress or Bialatti type stainless steel stovetop job? I'm the only coffee drinker except when we have guests, so the 4c Bodum seldom got used for it's capacity. Re: broke my Bodum French press - Robert M - 01-13-2013 Fritz, Maybe go with another French Press or a plain ol' Meillta "Ready Set Joe" brew it right on the cup doojigger (or something similar). Neither would be my method but since you're already accustomed to using a french press, I'd go for another one. I keep a Ready Set Joe on hand to use when I've run out of k-cups and/or during power outages. Robert Re: broke my Bodum French press - Fritz - 01-13-2013 we have them little drip baskets as back ups. I was just looking at the Bodum site for alternatives for clods what smash beakers. Gad this ain't high school science class. Re: broke my Bodum French press - Ombligo - 01-13-2013 Nissan makes a nice press for around $30. Stainless steel and insulated. http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-Nissan-34-Ounce-Insulated-Stainless-Steel/dp/B00004S1DB/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1358089431&sr=1-1&keywords=nissan+press Re: broke my Bodum French press - A-Polly - 01-13-2013 Bodum makes stainless steel French presses. I bought the 8-cup version of this one from Amazon 6 years ago for $30: ![]() Not sure why it costs more like $100 now! I don't use it very often, but never need to worry about breakage! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005YY9X/ref=ox_ya_os_product Bodum makes other shapes as well: ![]() ![]() Re: broke my Bodum French press - NewtonMP2100 - 01-13-2013 I've also broke one of the glass beakers [you can buy a replacement beaker], however, I've also had the plastic Bodum ones that were for travel and supposedly "unbreakable".....they cracked on the bottom and it seems to be a common issue with the plastic ones.....from the pressure of pushing down......so either way glass/plastic it will break.... Re: broke my Bodum French press - N-OS X-tasy! - 01-13-2013 How did you break the glass one? Re: broke my Bodum French press - ScottG - 01-13-2013 I had an all plastic French Press- the problem was that the plunger was also all plastic, and after a year or so it fell to pieces. I have had my present glass-jar French Press for years. It is used at least once a day. I think I must just be lucky with this one.... cheers scott Re: broke my Bodum French press - testcase - 01-13-2013 I have a French Press and AeroPress but, prefer the coffee that my Cuisinart Grind~n~Brew makes.
