Okay, I'd like your thoughts on a reusable water bottle. - wurm - 01-16-2013 I've been refilling and reusing old Poland Springs water bottles as needed, but I've been thinking maybe I should consider a more sturdy and hygienic alternative. I'd like something clear enough that I can see the water level, and I'd like something smaller than the usual 20 oz size, so I can fit it easily in the front pocket of my canvas briefcase without it bulging out. But I don't want a kid size bottle. In fact, it can be 20 oz, as long as it's a little skinnier than what you'd normally find. As I think about it, a sort of half-moon or semi-circle shaped base would be ideal to fit the contour of the pocket (fussy, eh?). I'd like an easy-open top, but I don't want one of those squirt top things. I don't need anything that has to make it through a nuclear holocaust. I'm not a hiker, and I don't want to spend much on it. I'd have no problem sticking with reusing the old Poland Springs bottles if only they weren't made of that flimsy plastic they started using several years ago. I'd like something a little sturdier. Aluminum would be fine...if it were transparent (Hear that, Scottie?). So, any recommendations for a decent, cheap, smallish easy-to-use and refill water bottle? Re: Okay, I'd like your thoughts on a reusable water bottle. - Speedy - 01-16-2013 I like the wide mouth soft drink bottles. You can drink them, whether the soft drink or filled with water, and then refill with whatever runs through you. Of course, the water isn't sterile but everything else is. They are pretty darned stable standing even when empty as long as a breeze doesn't knock it over... Re: Okay, I'd like your thoughts on a reusable water bottle. - wurm - 01-16-2013 Thanks for your thoughts. Have a stainless steel. Don't like it because I can't see the level when I'm refilling it. Could it be that the one that looks closest to what I'm looking for is also among the cheapest I've seen? Not a big fan of the color options, but I can live with that. |
