Sometimes all you have to do is open your eyes and see what's around you.

If you can see the sun when you look out the drivers side window - in most of the northern hemisphere - you're traveling west...:biggrin:

If you've been driving for more than two hours, you've probably left Belgium entirely, and missed the train station you were headed for!

I was distracted, so I kept driving. I saw all kinds of traffic signs, first in French, then German and finally in Croatian, but I kept driving because I was distracted. Suddenly I appeared in Zagreb and I realized I wasn't in Belgium anymore.
I wonder what kept her distracted the entire trip?

I wonder why it took "Welcome to Zagreb" rather than signs in German to make her realize she wasn't in Belgium any more.

Something similar almost happened to me. We traded homes and vehicles with a Costa Rica expat family a couple of years ago. After picking up their 4wd at the airport I selected "home" on the GPS so that it would take us to their house. There are virtually no road signs in Costa Rica (and many of the roads are just dirt tracks) so a GPS is critical. About two hours later I realized from the landmarks that we were heading the wrong direction, so I stepped through the GPS directions and realized that it was taking us back to where they originally lived...in California!

Well, I am a geologist and my wife is a geographer, so we did have an advantage over the croatian lady.
