Woman drives 900 miles out of her way after GPS error... - Paul F. - 01-16-2013 Woman Drives 900 Miles for 90 mile trip I never want to hear another word about men not stopping and asking for directions. Re: Woman drives 900 miles out of her way after GPS error... - freeradical - 01-16-2013 Sometimes all you have to do is open your eyes and see what's around you. Am I traveling east or west? If you can see the sun when you look out the drivers side window - in most of the northern hemisphere - you're traveling west... Re: Woman drives 900 miles out of her way after GPS error... - Paul F. - 01-16-2013 Even easier... If you've been driving for more than two hours, you've probably left Belgium entirely, and missed the train station you were headed for! Re: Woman drives 900 miles out of her way after GPS error... - GGD - 01-16-2013 I was distracted, so I kept driving. I saw all kinds of traffic signs, first in French, then German and finally in Croatian, but I kept driving because I was distracted. Suddenly I appeared in Zagreb and I realized I wasn't in Belgium anymore. I wonder what kept her distracted the entire trip? Re: Woman drives 900 miles out of her way after GPS error... - davester - 01-16-2013 Something similar almost happened to me. We traded homes and vehicles with a Costa Rica expat family a couple of years ago. After picking up their 4wd at the airport I selected "home" on the GPS so that it would take us to their house. There are virtually no road signs in Costa Rica (and many of the roads are just dirt tracks) so a GPS is critical. About two hours later I realized from the landmarks that we were heading the wrong direction, so I stepped through the GPS directions and realized that it was taking us back to where they originally lived...in California!
