Would you help this eBay buyer? - richorlin - 05-06-2013 I got this eBay message regarding a Macbook MD102LL I'm selling on eBay: "could you helpe i need send this notebook to another country, but the taxes in there are so expensive and depends from the original price, could you give. invoice for 400 the pc. i pay for 1359" Apparently buyer is in Florida and wants to ship the Macbook overseas himself. If I mock up an extra invoice, it would mean I could make over $100 on this laptop...or I can hope it sells in a week or two. What would you do? The little devil and angel on my shoulders are having at it and right now, it's a tie. Re: Would you help this eBay buyer? - Chakravartin - 05-06-2013 > What would you do? I wouldn't participate in mail fraud. Re: Would you help this eBay buyer? - BernDog - 05-06-2013 I wouldn't even go so far as to worry about moral grounds. Sounds like a scam to me. Hells no. If you invoice for $400 and he pays 400, it's his. Don't put yourself out there. Report it. Always keep yourself kosher under ebay's protections. Vary from the norm, and they won't have your back any more. Re: Would you help this eBay buyer? - Lizabeth - 05-06-2013 It would probably come back to bite you on the ass...not worth it. Re: Would you help this eBay buyer? - space-time - 05-06-2013 no way Re: Would you help this eBay buyer? - Gareth - 05-06-2013 If you're shipping to a US address, that makes no sense. He should just make a fake invoice himself. So, either he's too stupid to realize this, or he's not worth dealing with... Re: Would you help this eBay buyer? - BernDog - 05-06-2013 BernDog wrote: Just realized the second invoice would just be on paper, slipped in the package. Still no. That's dumb, and, like Gareth said, the buyer doesn't need your help to defraud anyone. They can just do it themselves. Re: Would you help this eBay buyer? - JoeH - 05-06-2013 Assuming the person's monetary offer was legit, sure I would do it for a substantial additional fee. I would also list that fee on the invoice for what it was. Re: Would you help this eBay buyer? - Speedy - 05-06-2013 Nope. Re: Would you help this eBay buyer? - Carm - 05-06-2013 On Shady Grounds, I wouldnt do it. |
