Euro only. Does anybody make a cheap-ish wagon for the US these days?

sorry but I have to say that is BUTT UGLY!

And yes Subaru makes a very fine little wagon. VW has 2 and Volvo is also still in the wagon biz

If they ever built this, I'd definitely buy one: http://baji192.wordpress.com/2012/03/15/mazda5-kodo-design/

What, you don't want a SUV version that weighs 20% more and has appropriately worse mileage and handling?

I have been looking for a small sporty wagon RWD/AWD and the closest is the BMW 135i M Touring, which is not sold in the US.

That's interesting. I wish they sold 'em here too. I don't like big a$$ SUV's, and the mid-size SUV's are Ok, but I like the sedan groove with some cargo carrying ability. Will they make 'em quieter ?

I just don't like Subarus. My neighbor has three of them. Just not my kind of ride.

If you go used, you can get BMW 3 series wagons (and with manuals!). My E46 wagon is RWD with a manual transmission and red leather interior. When I have lots of disposable income, I'll do an engine swap for an M3 engine and add an LSD. Smile

Or get the M coupe. Not a lot out there though, so I actually think they hold their value pretty well, but they're two door, so I guess they're really a "shooting brake".

Or a Subaru Impressa WRX/STI.

Now, go out and get something and tell us what you got. Don't make me come up with more suggestions. Smile

I've got my sights on one of these:

Gareth, the BMW is close. I would like something that is a step up from a plain BMW 1 series, but I don't want to have to do an engine swap. My brother owns a Subaru STI. To not come off as a copycat I would like something different... and lighter.... like a BRZ STI hatchback (not made). I would seriously consider a Focus RS WRC, but again, not sold here. Another choice would be an Audi RS2, but it has not been made in 8 years. The Audi TT RS is close but I would like something with a touch more rear legroom, full rear hatch and a bit cheaper. Mercedes-AMG A45 looks interesting (possibly too expensive like the TT RS) but I have not heard for sure if it will be sold widely in the US. Chevy has the Cadillac ATS, maybe if they made a Malibu version that was a little lighter...
