{Munchies?] Seattle Police to hand out Doritos at Hempfest - Black - 08-16-2013 http://news.yahoo.com/ seattle-police-doritos-pot-party-revelers- 025846829.html Don't make this political.... Re: {Munchies?] Seattle Police to hand out Doritos at Hempfest - ztirffritz - 08-16-2013 Washington has a law regarding smoking cigarettes within xft of a public building or workplace. A friend of mine pointed out that if he stood x+1ft from the building smoking pot and someone else stood x-1ft from the building smoking a cigarette the police were obligated to cite the cigarette smoker before him. Re: {Munchies?] Seattle Police to hand out Doritos at Hempfest - Filliam H. Muffman - 08-16-2013 Handing out donuts might be more ironic... I am not sure which is worse health wise. True, but pot offenses are legally relegated to the lowest priority for law enforcement. Jay walking takes precedence over pot in Seattle now. They actually made a law telling the police that pot laws are to be enforced only in the absence of any other offenses or violations. I didn't say that smoking pot was legal, only that the illegal cigarette smoker would have to be cited first. Re: {Munchies?] Seattle Police to hand out Doritos at Hempfest - Racer X - 08-16-2013 Even before the legal changes, SPD was instructed by the chief of police that if they saw someone smoking pot in public, and saw a jaywalker at the same time, to go after the jaywalker. Now, how Seattle can have legal pot growers in massive warehouses just a few miles south of the DEA and FBI headquarters in downtown Seattle is baffling to me. How can the feds just IGNORE wholesale drug growers violating federal law just miles away? But my GF wants to get a bag of those Doritos as a momento. It's not legal to smoke at Hempfest either, they just don't enforce it. This whole thing bothers me quite a bit. I'm extremely allergic to it. If someone is smoking 30' from me and I can't get out of the smoke within a few minutes, I get a migraine, vomiting, loss of vision... pretty well incapacitates me for the better part of a day, depending on exposure. Doing some research, I'm not alone. Since it's illegal, there's not a lot of data on it. And we're passing these laws legalizing it so people can entertain themselves while not even checking to see what problems it may cause. Re: {Munchies?] Seattle Police to hand out Doritos at Hempfest - Lemon Drop - 08-16-2013 It's illegal to smoke pot in public, so the 25 foot rule that applies to cigarette smoking outside public places is irrelevant to pot. You should not be encountering public pot smoking any more than you do now (and I would add that in Seattle I almost never see anyone smoking pot in public) I think people are confusing the old Seattle rules, where pot enforcement was "low priority" for police, with new laws just now going into effect. |
