This was a former, and well-known sports writer for the Kansas City Star. He also created the NBA's Efficiency Rating.
Very interesting how he went out and the web site he left that is more or less a personal biography and explanation for everything - he's a good writer. I've found myself reading through some of the (mirror) site.
