OT: I finished every episode of Star Trek Voyager, let's discuss - pRICE cUBE - 08-29-2013 Spoilers ahead: OK, so I admit that I am a big sap and actually got a bit emotional once they got back to earth. I realize that I like this show more than my first time through and realizing I missed a bunch of episodes. While I would not say that Voyager has moved up in my Trek rankings, I do think much more highly of it. Some random thoughts about Voyager: I like the crew's snarky remarks to each other, it would be realistic for a ship stranded so far from home. It gave it more of a sense of family, well, more like my family anyway. A close knit dysfunctional group. The halo novel episode where the doctor bases his story on the Voyager crew was hilarious. I don't think Tom Paris is a good friend to Harry Kim, he is constantly knocking him down a peg for no reason. Why is every lady attracted to Chakotay? He is a decent looking guy but I don't think he is a Kirk type. Ladies, can you give me some insight into this? Seska, the Captain, Torres, 7 of 9, memory eraser lady, were all into him. The Doctor is the character I enjoyed most from the show. His pithiness and outrage always brought a smile to my face. Neelix, never did much for me and neither did Tuvok separately but when they were together it made for some decent laughs. Tuvok's dancing gesture before Neelix leaves was a nice surprise considering Vulcans do not dance. Captain Janeway, she probably should have had a dozen mutinies on her hands. She ended up ripping Captain Ransom a new one for violating the Prime Directive to keep his crew alive and she ends up messing with the Temporal Prime Directive later. Feel free to add to any Voyager discussion since I am now going through TOS. Kim had a clean Star Fleet record, very good advancement potential, happy family upbringing, and long-term romantic relationship (with a girl back home). These are things Paris craved but his bravado certainly wouldn't let him admit to anybody (possibly even to himself). So Paris had a love/hate, or more a like/dislike thing going on in his relationship with Kim. Re: OT: I finished every episode of Star Trek Voyager, let's discuss - MGS_forgot_password - 08-29-2013
Re: OT: I finished every episode of Star Trek Voyager, let's discuss - Zoidberg - 08-29-2013 My big problem with Voyager, given its "Lost in Space" premise, was that the ship and crew always appeared so clean & neat and orderly. No starbases, no resupply, no repair stations, etc. I know there'd be other means and trading partners and etc., but it would have made more sense had the ship looked a little patchworked by the end of the series. Re: OT: I finished every episode of Star Trek Voyager, let's discuss - Ombligo - 08-29-2013 I always wondered about how no matter where they stopped, someone had already told the place that the Voyager was coming and what to expect. You would think that Voyager would be making pretty much a straight beeline at high warp for home. Stops would be as needed and fast (kinda like a family road trip with my Dad driving) So how did someone else always get there first? If someone else had faster travel, I'd have been jumping ship and booking passage. Re: OT: I finished every episode of Star Trek Voyager, let's discuss - Paul F. - 08-29-2013 Totally agree with Zoidberg.... By the last season, they should have had a couple Borg computer consoles, some alien power converteres here and there, some freakin' DIRT here and there (that wasn't attached to a Kazon - the worst thought out bad guys ever... my buddy called them the "bad dirt people aliens" ). Maybe some scabbed on hull plating here and there.. I would have liked to have seen a little more character development for Harry Kim... maybe get more command experience (though they did make a story line out of that). I also agree the "Year of Hell" could have been a longer story arc. Andy Dick as an EMH - Worst. Casting. Ever. I'd rather put a phaser in my mouth. The Doctor, hands down, had the best character development.... quite possibly of any Star Trek character ever. If you'll forgive the bad pun, he was very two dimensional when the series started. In the hands of Robert Picardo, they really made something of what could have been a VERY boring character. Kes - bad idea from the beginning. They managed to salvage, somewhat, the character of Neelix, he never was what he COULD have been, which is too bad.... annoying though I found him, mostly, he did have some positive moments. As Godfather to Naomi Wildman, he wasn't bad.
