Macbookpro 5,2 - josntme - 08-30-2013 I'm looking to purchase this macbook pro and need to know if it's worth a $1000.00 and thanks for your input. Model Name: MacBook Pro 2009 Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,2 Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 6 MB Memory: 4 GB Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz Boot ROM Version: MBP52.008E.B05 SMC Version (system): 1.42f4 Serial Number (system): XXXXXXXX Hardware UUID: 02CD1E86-8ECF-5B59-9660-8BE34D199B2C Sudden Motion Sensor: State: Enabled Hard drive = 1 Tb Re: Macbookpro 5,2 - Gareth - 08-30-2013 Absolutely not. You should be able to get a 17" dual core i7 for just under $1000. Heck, even some quad core i7's have sold for just under or near $1000 (not as common). About the only upgrade on that machine is the hard drive at 1TB, but hard drives are cheap (and it could be an old, slow 1TB; you can't tell from what you've posted). Maybe if it has an anti-glare screen, that adds some value, but I still saw some anti-glare i7's ending for under $1k on eBay. Re: Macbookpro 5,2 - C(-)ris - 08-30-2013 Nope. You need to do a lot more research before you buy if you thought that was even remotely close to a deal. That is a $600 machine plus a $50 hard drive. Re: Macbookpro 5,2 - bazookaman - 08-30-2013 This is why I love this forum. Re: Macbookpro 5,2 - decay - 08-30-2013 I have a friend selling his late 2011 15in MBP for $900, and it's a much better machine than that. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-i7-2.2-15-late-2011-unibody-thunderbolt-specs.html Re: Macbookpro 5,2 - josntme - 08-30-2013 Thanks for the many responses. I'll pass this by. I do need a 17 inch because my eyesight is failing and the 15" is getting too hard to see. Guess I'll watch ebay for a deal. Re: Macbookpro 5,2 - C(-)ris - 08-30-2013 If that is a 17" then you can add $100 to my price, but it still isn't worth $1k. Re: Macbookpro 5,2 - Gareth - 08-30-2013 17" 2009 Apple MACBOOK PRO!! - $600 2.6 Ghz Intel Core Core 2 Duo 4GB 1600 MHz Memory Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB 300GB HD Storage http://collegestation.craigslist.org/sys/3981027874.html MacBook Pro 17 8GB i7 2.66Ghz 1TB - $1100 Processor: 2.66 Ghz Intel Core i7 Memory: 8GB 1067 Mhz DDR3 Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 288 MB OS X 10.8.4 Display: 17-inch (1920 x 1200) (no dead pixels) Two Hardrives: 1) Stock 500GB 720rpm HDD 2) 480GB Mercury Electra 6G SSD http://austin.craigslist.org/sys/4008998533.html The i7 one actually seems like a decent deal considering it has an OWC 480GB 6G SSD (though it doesn't have an optical drive). Though depending on your needs, I might hold out for a quad core. Re: Macbookpro 5,2 - pinkoos - 08-30-2013 Note that only the 2011 17" is capable of Airplay Mirroring, if you're interested in that feature. Re: Macbookpro 5,2 - sekker - 08-30-2013 Don't get a MBP without solid state memory for the boot drive. |
