Best (simple and easy) SW for jpg image reduction? + My 10.5.8 to 10.8.4 upgrade - MitchJi - 08-31-2013 Hi, I think I might have set a record for upgrading from 10.5.8 to 10.8.4, and migrating from Eudora to Apple Mail (a miserable experience) to Powermail (a lot of minor warts but overall it's decent or even nice). Over 60 hours. One feature I really like in Mail is dragging a picture to attach to an email and being able to change the size in the pulldown menu. I considered using my copy of Mail for image reduction. Is there a dedicated program for image reduction that is comparable in ease of use? Ideally I'd be able to drag and drop an image on the program, choose a size with a radio button or from a pulldown menu, enter a file name and hit return. My 10.5.8 to 10.8.4 upgrade: The Good: EudoraMailboxCleaner Migration assistant and the 10.8 installation. The bad (short version): 10.8 invisible Library folder. Enter the following command at the Terminal prompt: Getting a second copy of the 10.8 installer. Deleting the original without notification was bad enough but having to use google to find out that I needed to install a temporary account with admin privileges to download another copy was a totally unnecesarry PITA. Speaking of unnecesarry PITA's what happened to the arrow's on the scroll bars? Is there a hack to get them back? Thanks! There is a lot of talk on this forum about Lion and Mountain Lion... Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I'm on 10.6.8 and plan on being there for awhile. But I did want to welcome a new forumite! I believe you can add back the scroll bars in Preferences... Re: Best (simple and easy) SW for jpg image reduction? + My 10.5.8 to 10.8.4 upgrade - Marc Anthony - 09-01-2013 Hi. You can change image size and quality fairly easily with Image Events and Applescript, which are already on your Mac. Most of the UI tweaks have options to turn them off. I'd give them a try a bit; then turn off what you find especially annoying. I was surprised at how much of the new features I liked after trying.
