Figures... I just paid $1200 for one!
(of course, the one I got has 16gb RAM, 3x 2Tb drives, a 128Gb SSD, rail kit, and even comes with the power cord...).

I saw one on CL Atlanta for $300 a couple of weeks ago (still there for all I know). Took a tremendous amount of self-control not to snatch it up...

Tempting price, but I don't have anywhere to put it or a real need for one as a server. Would take a couple hours of driving each way to pick it up. One son is living close to there, but he doesn't have a car.

It's certainly a good price. For reference, a similar base model Xserve, with less RAM and storage, goes for $400 on ebay.

It's a good price but I don't think it's a scam, probably a business liquidation or something.

Keep in mind these servers are loud and hot. Not really ideal for home use unless you can maybe store it in a garage or basement or something.
Still, a great price for the amount of power you can get.

Yeah, I'm guessing the axing of the Xserve line and an actual server OS killed the used market. How's Linux run on these guys?
