This seems like a heck of a deal on an xServe.... - Catzilla - 09-02-2013 http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/sys/4039558686.html Re: This seems like a heck of a deal on an xServe.... - Paul F. - 09-02-2013 Figures... I just paid $1200 for one! (of course, the one I got has 16gb RAM, 3x 2Tb drives, a 128Gb SSD, rail kit, and even comes with the power cord...). Re: This seems like a heck of a deal on an xServe.... - Will Collier - 09-03-2013 I saw one on CL Atlanta for $300 a couple of weeks ago (still there for all I know). Took a tremendous amount of self-control not to snatch it up... Re: This seems like a heck of a deal on an xServe.... - JoeH - 09-03-2013 Tempting price, but I don't have anywhere to put it or a real need for one as a server. Would take a couple hours of driving each way to pick it up. One son is living close to there, but he doesn't have a car. Re: This seems like a heck of a deal on an xServe.... - silvarios - 09-03-2013 This can't be legit, right? $300 for an Intel Mac server? Re: This seems like a heck of a deal on an xServe.... - DRR - 09-03-2013 It's certainly a good price. For reference, a similar base model Xserve, with less RAM and storage, goes for $400 on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-Xserve-2-8-GHz-Quad-Core-Intel-Xeon-Server-2GB-2008-2-1-Model-MA882LL-A-/281107207511?pt=COMP_EN_Servers&hash=item41734b9557 It's a good price but I don't think it's a scam, probably a business liquidation or something. Re: This seems like a heck of a deal on an xServe.... - decay - 09-03-2013 this seems really good http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/sys/3960108686.html Re: This seems like a heck of a deal on an xServe.... - DRR - 09-03-2013 Keep in mind these servers are loud and hot. Not really ideal for home use unless you can maybe store it in a garage or basement or something. Still, a great price for the amount of power you can get. Re: This seems like a heck of a deal on an xServe.... - silvarios - 09-03-2013 Yeah, I'm guessing the axing of the Xserve line and an actual server OS killed the used market. How's Linux run on these guys? |
