I usually say "see ya" or "bye." I think it's weird that otherwise manly men I know sometimes say "bye bye."

Of course not.... because I'm a character in a bad movie/TV drama. I get home, flip on the TV which instantly shows me the news bulletin with the salient plot point. I turn off the set just as the phone rings.
All I say is:
Yes?
What's that? Brett is heading to the lighthouse because Mandy said to meet him there? But...
Yes, I know. Mandy's in the hospital. Brett's being lured... to his death!
I'll take the badly eroded coast road in the lightning storm and get out there as fast as I can.
